Terms

Terms of service

Last updated 31 August 2026

These are the terms for photography, video, drone, 3D tour and floor plan work booked from this site. They are written to match what the rest of the site already promises, in plainer words. Booking a shoot means agreeing to them.

Novo Real Estate Media is a photography business based in Geneva, Illinois, referred to below as “we”. The person or company booking is “you”.

Prices

The price the calculator shows is the price on the invoice. There is no “starting at”, no per-photo charge and no surprise at checkout.

Prices are built from what you enter — list price, square footage, property type and the options you pick. We verify those details before the shoot. If something genuinely differs, the price is corrected in either direction and confirmed with you before any work or charge. It is never adjusted after the fact.

Commercial, architectural, scan-to-CAD and floor-plan-only work is quoted rather than published, and the quote is what applies.

Booking, retainers and payment

  • Basic Listing and Essentials take no payment at booking.
  • Premium takes a $150 retainer and Estate a $350 retainer to hold the date, because they block a large part of the day.
  • The balance is due after the shoot and before your photographs are delivered.

A retainer is applied to your total, not charged on top of it.

Rescheduling and cancellation

Moving the date

  • Your first reschedule is free. No questions, however late it is. Things come up that nobody controls, and we would rather move a shoot than have you hesitate to call.
  • A second or further reschedule is $40 each time.
  • Weather never counts. If conditions make exteriors, drone or twilight unusable, we move that part at no charge and it does not use up your free reschedule.

Rescheduling inside 72 hours commits the retainer to the new date. Move a shoot with less than 72 hours’ notice and the retainer stops being refundable — it belongs to the rescheduled shoot from that point on, and cancelling later does not bring it back. Reschedule with more than 72 hours’ notice and the refund terms below carry over to the new date as normal.

Moving the date and getting money back are separate things. A late reschedule is still free of the $40 fee if it is your first — free means no fee, not refundable.

Cancelling outright

Notice givenRetainer
72 hours or more95% refunded
24 to 72 hours50% refunded
Less than 24 hoursNot refunded — but you can move the date instead at no cost

The 5% covers the card processing fee, which the payment processor keeps whether or not a shoot happens. It is not a cancellation charge.

Inside 24 hours, moving the date costs nothing while cancelling keeps the retainer. If something falls apart that morning, call and move it.

Refunds are issued by us, not automatically. Cancelling a booking through the link in your confirmation email releases the date but does not return any money on its own. To arrange a refund, email connect@novorealestatemedia.com or call (630) 480-6659, and it is dealt with the same business day.

If we cancel, you get the whole retainer back — all of it, fee included — and first choice of the next available slot.

What you need to have ready

The price assumes a property we can get into at the booked time, with the lights working and switched on, and staged the way you want it to appear. There is a photo-day checklist that covers the rest.

We move things. Furniture gets shifted where it helps the shot, and the small obvious stuff is handled as we go — squaring up chairs, moving a bin out of frame, taking down family photographs, clearing clutter off a counter. That is part of photographing a house properly, not an extra, and you are not charged for it.

What we do not do is clean. Surfaces, floors, bathrooms, dishes — that has to happen before we arrive, because it is not something anyone fixes in an hour with a camera in hand. If a property is genuinely not ready and the whole shoot has to be repeated, the second visit is chargeable.

Delivery

Photographs from a shoot starting before 2pm are in your inbox by 11:30am the next business day. A shoot starting later lands by 6pm the next business day instead. If we are late on either, you get a $20 credit toward your next shoot — automatically, without asking.

Video, reels, 3D tours and floor plans take longer than photographs, and the timeframe is given to you when you book.

If the photographs are not right

Three commitments, and you can hold us to all of them:

  • Unlimited re-edits. Tell us what is not right — the sky, the colour, the crop, how a room reads — and we edit it again. No limit, no charge, however many times it takes.
  • A reshoot if editing cannot fix it. If re-editing does not get there, we come back and shoot it again at no charge.
  • The delivery credit above, if we miss the time.

These cover our work. They do not cover a property being changed, staged differently or photographed in a different season after the fact — that is a new shoot.

Licensing and copyright

Copyright in the photographs stays with Novo Real Estate Media, which is the normal arrangement in photography. What you get is a full marketing licence, and it is genuinely full:

  • MLS, listing portals, print, social media, your own website and advertising
  • For as long as you want — the licence does not expire
  • No per-use charges, ever

The licence is for marketing the property photographed and your own business. It does not cover reselling the images, licensing them on to third parties, or supplying them to another photography or media company as their work. Builders, developers, architects and staging companies involved in the property are welcome to use them for their own marketing — just credit us where it is practical.

We may show the work in this portfolio and in our own marketing. If you would rather we did not, say so and we will not. See the privacy policy.

Drone work

Aerial photography is flown under FAA Part 107 rules. Some locations cannot be flown legally — controlled airspace without authorisation, temporary restrictions, or an unsafe site. If we cannot fly a property, we tell you before the shoot and remove the aerial portion from the price rather than substituting something else.

Access, safety and the property

You confirm you have the right to have the property photographed and to grant the access arranged. We take reasonable care in every property, but we are not responsible for pre-existing damage, for items left out, or for anything a property owner has not secured. Anything we damage ourselves, we put right.

Liability

If something goes wrong with a shoot, our responsibility is limited to the amount you paid for that shoot — by redoing the work, or by refunding it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as a listing going live later than planned or a property selling for less than hoped.

Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Illinois, and any dispute belongs in the courts of Kane County, Illinois.

Realistically: if something is wrong, call. Nothing on this page has ever needed a lawyer, and the guarantees above exist so it does not have to.

Changes

These terms may change. The version in force for your shoot is the one published when you booked, and the date at the top says when this one was written.
